Cycle World

Cycle World was a project dedicated to creating a platform not just for selling bikes but also to contribute to the greater culture around cycling. My focus was on the landing page and catalog.

Project Overview

While the brief was straight forward, there was a lot of detail to keep track of. High quality photos were going to be of high importance as was a high energy level. I achieved this through the use of bold colors and fonts as well as shapes that convey movement.

There are some things I would change if I could go back.

  • An accessibility audit
  • Remove rotating hero section
  • Improve spacing, especially among links and sale items
  • Fleshed out mobile screens

Project Goals

  • An engaging first impression
  • Highlight featured items & special offers
  • Strong CTAs
  • Communicate event info
  • Create a bold brand that would stand out

Project Details

  • Unique but usable layout
  • Vibrant colors
  • Distinct sections for different types of content
  • Inclusion of finer details
  • Seamless interactivity with sale items

Homepage & Mobile App

Wireframes & Content Tracking

  • Translucent and sticky header navigation
  • Demo events started as a calendar but I chose a simpler design
  • "Shop Apparel" button for users who are looking for an item similar to the one being cross promoted
  • I made a list of all the required content to ensure everything made it into the design
A 3 column table listing all of the content and relevant items for each page of the project
  • The pastel colors are too subdued
  • Poor contrast
  • Note the old logo

The final pages are a clear improvement. The greater contrast is an improvement to the readability and accessibility of the pages. I also increased the distinction between the different levels of the content hierarchy, further adding to those improvements.
